Ranzen

Nepal

Ranzen is a pioneering music producer and DJ from Kathmandu, and co-founder of the electronic duo Zeromile, who has been instrumental in pushing the boundaries of electronic music in Nepal. He has played a leading role in the evolution of an unrecognizable underground scene to a cultural mainstay for Kathmandu's increasingly vibrant social scene and nightlife within the last decade. Ranzen's DJ sets and productions span a diverse array of electronic dance music genres, featuring minimal techno, tech house, dubstep, drum n bass, and jungle. His signature style infuses indigenous sound samples – vocals, instruments, and even everyday soundscapes – sourced from across Nepal and beyond, to create a unique and immersive musical journey. Ranzen is also the founding director of the Janakpur-based Bhoomi Folk Festival, one of Nepal's biggest music festivals outside Kathmandu, bridging Nepal and India by bringing together folk, classical, and electronic musicians from across the Indo-Gangetic Plains. His DJ career highlights include collaborating with legendary British DJ Paul Oakenfold in 2017 for a live set at the Everest Base Camp during Oakenfold's 'Soundtrek' tour and being featured in the documentary based on the same show. Besides featuring regularly in Kathmandu's prominent nightclubs, Ranzen has also performed at an international fundraiser held in New York City to support a major nature conservation initiative in eastern Nepal, and has also performed at Zouk Singapore, for another fundraiser for earthquake.
